Emotional support available for people affected by flooding

There are a number of options available for people experiencing emotional distress following the floods brought on by Storm Ciara.

However distress is usually temporary; if it persists into the longer term and develops into prolonged symptoms such as continuous low mood or sadness, or feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, there are services that can help:

  • Your GP

  • Healthy Minds, Calderdale’s mental health charity, provides a number of services including drop-ins, peer-led wellbeing groups and Safespace (out of hours support available for people in distress on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings) – 01422 345154. Click here for more information.
