Ability to Receive Elective Care (1718172)

Q. How many patients have been referred by their GP for elective care but have been unable to receive treatment because of a) being a smoker, and b) having a BMI over 30 for each of the following periods. Please ensure you provide answers for a) and b) in each period separately, where possible.

– 2014/15;

– 2015/16;

– 2016/17;

– and the first two quarters of 2017/18.

NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) does not hold this information as the clinical decision to proceed to elective treatment is made by clinicians within the acute care provider. The CCG main provider is Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (foi@cht.nhs.uk)

Please note that NHS Calderdale CCG has not introduced and does not have any blanket policy that restricts routine elective treatment based purely on the patient being a smoker or having a BMI over 30.
