Accessing NHS services on the May Bank Holidays

Most GP practices in Calderdale will close for the May Bank Holidays on Monday 6 and Monday 27 May.

If you take prescription medication, please make sure that you, and vulnerable people around you, have enough to carry you through the long weekend.

Details on services that are available in Calderdale this weekend can be found below:

Self Care

Self-care is best for most common ailments like coughs and colds, and can save you an unnecessary trip to see your GP.

It's a good idea to keep a stock of over-the-counter medicines at home, including painkillers, antihistamine tablets, anti-diarrhoea and indigestion treatments.

Pharmacists are highly trained health professionals and can offer medical advice and self-care treatment quickly, saving you a trip to the doctor?

Pharmacists can help with treatment for minor concerns and conditions, such as coughs, colds, tummy troubles, teething in infants and aches and pains.

Speak to a pharmacist as soon as you start to feel unwell, and they’ll direct you to see your GP if they think you need to.
