I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information relating to the hospitals in your area:
- What is the longest amount of time in days a patient had been kept in hospital due to delayed transfer in the past 12 months?
- Could you give me details for the three longest delayed transfer stays, the name of the hospital concerned and if possible the age and sex of the patients concerned and the department they were in (ie elderly care/general surgery, paediatrics etc)?
- Are you also able to give a brief reason for the delay in each instance (ie lack of beds in care facility/delay equipping home etc)?
Due to the low number of individuals involved, we are unable to disclose this information as it relates to less than five individuals. This information is potentially patient identifiable and, as such, we are issuing an exemption notice under section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides an absolute exemption where disclosure of personal data about someone other than the applicant would contravene any of the data protection principles. Consequently, the exemption is not subject to the public interest test.
