The Equality Delivery System (EDS2) for the NHS is a tool designed to help NHS organisations, in partnership with local stakeholders, to review and improve their performance for individuals and groups protected by the Equality Act 2010, and to support them in meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). The protected characteristics include age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. EDS2 can also be applied to groups not covered under the Equality Act 2010, for example homeless people, people on low incomes and geographically isolated communities.
