I am a member of the PRG at Meadowdale Group Practice. At our last meeting I asked about available patient appointments at Sowerby as the online system only ever has a few whereas Ovendon has a lot and Elland is in between. The answer was that appointments go very fast at Sowerby. When I said that was my reason for asking why are there not more clinics at Sowerby I was told that number of appointments to patients is as directed by the CCG and my question should be directed to them. Well thats what I am doing. As a retired Accountants I am used to numbers!!! So if you could tell me your specified GP appointments to patient number ratio and if possible the number of registered patients at each of the three surgeries I would be very grateful.
NHS Calderdale CCG is currently supporting practices to offer, as a minimum, 70 appointments with a prescribing clinician per 1,000 registered patients per week. This is in line with the Royal College of Practitioners (RCGP) definition of good access. Practices are at liberty to offer more, but not less.
The Practice list size as at 1st April 2018 is 3,618. The CCG does not hold information on how this is broken down to patient numbers registered at each of the 3 sites; this information will be held at practice level.
