The number of beds commissioned from South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYPFT) (where information is held) is outlined below, as is a description of the service:

SWYPFT PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit)- CCG commissions 3 beds.

Service Description: Psychiatric intensive care is for patients compulsorily detained usually in secure conditions, who are in an acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder. There is an associated loss of capacity for self-control, with a corresponding increase in risk, which does not enable their safe, therapeutic management and treatment in a general open acute ward.

SWYPFT ADULT INPATIENT- CCG commissions 24 beds.

Service Description: Inpatient assessment and treatment for adults of working age.

SWYPFT ADULT REHAB- CCG commissions 14 beds

Service Description: Community based rehabilitation and continuing care service for adults with enduring mental health problems. No pre determined length of stay but not intended as home for life.

OLDER PEOPLES INPATIENT- CCG commissions 16 beds

Service Description: Inpatient assessment and treatment for older people with functional mental health problems who cannot be cared for in the community or other settings due to the intensity and expertise of the care required.

All other services commissioned from SWYPFT have activity measured either per contact, per episode of care or per caseload numbers.
