Items which should not be routinely prescribed in primary care: a consultation on guidance for CCGs

Items which should not be routinely prescribed in primary care: a consultation on guidance for CCGs

NHS England, in conjunction with NHS Clinical Commissioners, are running a consultation on medicines which can be considered to be of low priority for NHS funding.

For more information, to download the consultation document and complete the consultation survey go to: www.engage.england.nhs.uk/consultation/items-routinely-prescribed

The findings of this consultation will be used to produce guidance to support Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in ensuring that they can use their prescribing resources effectively and deliver best patient outcomes from the medicines that their local population uses.

This is a national consultation run by NHS England, which may have an impact on the way GPs in Calderdale CCG’s member practices prescribe medicines to treat certain conditions; this is not a consultation run by Calderdale CCG.

It’s everyone’s NHS – and we’re not going to waste it

This consultation is not related to Calderdale CCG’s previous engagements on how the CCG can reduce our spending on wasted medicines and lower value medicines.

The feedback gathered during this engagement are currently being processed, and we will post this on the CCG’s website when available, and a local consultation on this will follow in the autumn.
