The CCG wrote to all practices this week requesting assurance in relation to risk assessments and business continuity plans. NHSE/I have requested that a letter is shared with general practice relating to actions required to risk assess at-risk groups and ensure staff know how to access occupational health. The Email states that for General Practice, the implications re reporting will be considered by the North, East and Yorkshire Primary Care Group on 1st July 2020. The outcome of that will be shared once known.
Endoscopy appointments: Urgent Action
When booking a person directly to endoscopy practices are reminded that the person needs to isolate for 7 days prior to the appointment, could you please inform the patient of the need to isolate from the referral date. Some people have been booked with just 3 days’ notice and CHFT are unable to the test and have to rebook the person which can cause distress.
COVID Follow Up Clinic
CHFT have developed a Covid Follow up clinic designed to review patients treated in hospital for Covid 19 illness regardless of whether they were swab positive as there is a false negative rate in swabbing of approximately 15-30%. Respiratory Medicine have attained a list (via health informatics) of all patients treated at any CHFT site and will arrange follow up of those deemed to require follow up or those who would benefit from follow up. Follow up will be carried out as per the British Thoracic Society and NHSE guidance. Respiratory Medicine will organise any follow up imaging and investigations as deemed necessary. Patients will be assessed using a standardised proforma to help identify any ongoing healthcare needs (e.g. SALT, Psychology, physio etc.) and then referred onwards as appropriate.
