NHS Greater Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS Calderdale CCG are asking people to give their views on proposed changes to hospital and community health services as part of a public consultation. An animation has been published helping to explain the proposed arrangements for Emergency, Acute and Urgent Care, should the proposals go ahead.
The animation explains that under the proposed changes, there would be two Urgent Care Centres – one at Calderdale Royal Hospital and one on the Acre Mills site, Huddersfield. All emergency, acute and high risk planned care would be brought together at Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) and the Acre Mills, Huddersfield, site would be developed as a hospital dedicated to planned care. The proposed new model of care is supported by further strengthening community services.
People can have their say by completing a survey available on the Right Care Right Time Right Place website, www.rightcaretimeplace.co.uk where key information about the proposals is also available.
There are still opportunities for the public to learn more about the proposed changes at drop-in information sessions, where they can view displays, videos and talk directly to NHS staff.
Clinical chair of NHS Greater Huddersfield CCG, Dr Steve Ollerton, said: “It is very important to us that we listen to peoples’ views on these proposed changes. One of the main ways we can do this is to ask people to complete the Have your Say survey, where they can let us know what they think of the proposals and tell us if they think we have missed anything.”
Clinical chair of NHS Calderdale CCG, Dr Alan Brook, said: “The health service faces significant challenges and we are proposing changes which we believe would result in the greatest overall benefits for people living across Calderdale and Huddersfield.
“The proposed changes are significant and we need to explain them as well as simply as we can. The animation is a good way to show what the proposals would mean.”
