NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCCG) has 36 care homes. They are comprised of:

  • 13 nursing (2 of which are nursing plus learning disability, or physical disability)
  • 23 residential

The total number of beds within the Nursing and Residential Care Home is 1272.

3. How many Non-Elective Admissions (NEL’s) were there from the Nursing and Residential Care Homes in 2017/2018 – 2018/2019?

The Non-Elective Admissions from Nursing and Residential Care Homes are:

2017/18 – 1,286*

2018/19 – 1,227*

Calderdale CCG’s contract with its local acute hospital trust is part of an aligned incentive contract and therefore is part of a block agreement.

6. What is your local per event cost for a Non-Elective Admission for a Care Home resident?

We do not have a local cost for Non-Elective admissions for Care Home residents.  This would be coded using diagnosis, length of stay, age and complexity to generate a HRG code and cost; this will be included in the Aligned Incentive contract.

 7. What is the average length of stay in hospital for a Care Home resident in your area?

The average length of stay for the following years are:

2017/18 – 8.0 days

2018/19 – 7.4 days
