Toric Intraocular Lenses (1718091)

1.   Does NHS Calderdale CCG fund toric intraocular lenses for NHS patients with astigmatism undergoing cataract surgery?

Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) commissions cataract surgery from providers in accordance with NICE Guidance.  Any lenses that are inserted at the time of surgery by providers are required to be appropriate, again in accordance with NICE Guidance. The CCG does not specifically fund any extra/specific types of lenses unless they have been requested and approved through the CCG’s Individual Funding Process.

 2.   If yes to Q1, please list the criteria under which toric intraocular lenses are available to patients, and please send us copies of any policy documentation.

 See response to question 1.
